Volunteers who help feed the poor and hungry who come to our door on the First and Fourth Sundays of the month notice two things: There are more guests and they are hungrier. Volunteers are always needed to cook, serve, make desserts, set up, clean up, and welcome our guests. For more information, please contact Ann Nelson by email or at 510-845-8779.
Thank you for your continuing generosity in meeting the needs of those who have so little. To feed more people, we have made some menu changes. A new chicken stew recipe, perfected by Frank Kalmar, was well received and provides many portions. It is being served on the First Sunday, while chili is on the Fourth Sunday menu. Dinner is served at 3:00 p.m., in an effort to get all the volunteers out of the kitchen before dark.
If you can come and serve, or help begin the meal, or would be able to clean up, please consider doing so. Your help, even if it's just an hour, would be gratefully appreciated. Earl Jacobs is handling the ordering of food. If you're interested in joining the schedule of cooks, please leave a message at the church office. If you'd like to apprentice, and learn to feed many people at one time, let the dinner committee know. If you'd like to come and see what we do, stop by any First or Fourth Sunday. We always welcome new volunters. The volunteers thank Patty Darragh for her many years of tireless service in this ministry. |
