Allison de Laveaga

Allison de Laveaga graduated in 2019 from the Journey Center Spiritual Direction Formation Program in Santa Rosa, where she was trained in contemplative Spiritual Direction and retreat leadership. She meets with people at her church, Berkeley Covenant, at 1632 Hopkins St. in Berkeley.  She first experienced Spiritual Direction in 1997 when her pastor led her through the Ignatian Exercises. Since that time she has been interested in how God moves in our everyday lives to draw us closer to Him. She is honored to be able to help others witness God’s presence in their lives.

Allison has attended Berkeley Covenant Church since 1990 and has served in various roles including elder, prayer team member, and Sunday School teacher. She raised two sons, now 19 and 22, in Berkeley. They both attended the School of the Madeleine for K-8th grades and she was an active parent volunteer. In addition to school activities, she helped for several years at St. Mary Magdalen’s Dinners for the Poor & Homeless.

Allison also holds a Master’s in teaching English and a bachelor’s in journalism. She is a writer and enjoys publishing pieces about parenting and spirituality on her blog, www.allisondelaveaga.com, and various web sites. She is also active in a local nonprofit organization that supports schools in rural Guatemala.
