St. Vincent de Paul Conference

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization of lay persons, founded in 1833  by Blessed Frederick Ozanam and his companions. In the spirit of justice and charity, its 800,000 members worldwide seek to help those in need in their local communities.

Thanks to the generosity of St. Mary Magdalen parishioners, we are able to distribute grocery store gift cards, assist with rent or utilities, and even deliver (discounted) furnishings to local neighbors in need.  We are also grateful to the neighboring parishes of St. Joseph the Worker and St. Ambrose, which have recently begun to collect donations for our conference. Their generous contributions have enabled us to respond to the ever-increasing demands for assistance.

We are always looking for new members to join our ministry.  We meet in Norton Hall on the first Monday of every month, in addition to informal gatherings on other occasions. To learn more, you may send an email to svdp@marymagdalen.orgor leave a message at (510) 526-4811 x 787, or simply show up at one of our meetings!

We are entirely financed by donations from Catholic parishioners in Berkeley and Albany. If you are moved to donate, you may use one of the envelopes in the pews on every Fifth Sunday, or go to marymagdalen.org/offering anytime and select the “St. Vincent de Paul Society” for a one-time or recurring donation. 100% of your donations will go to helping our Berkeley and Albany neighbors in need.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
