What is Baptism? Baptism is the first of the initiation sacraments of the Church and makes us members of the Body of Christ. “From the baptismal fonts is born the one People of God of the New Covenant…for ‘by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body’ (1 Cor. 12:13)” —CCC, 1267 Infant Baptisms take place on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00am. To schedule a Baptism, contact the parish office.

Godparent Requirements. At least one godparent must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. No more than two godparents – one male, one female.

Baptism Classes. All parents who intend to baptize their child are expected to attend a preparation class prior to the Baptism.  The Baptism classes are led by parishioner Mary Bucher on Saturday mornings. Please contact the parish office (510-526-4811) for more information regarding the class schedule.

Meeting with a Priest.  Please call the parish office to schedule an appointment with a priest well in advance of the date on which you would like your child to be baptized.  Before arriving at the office, please download and fill out this form.

Baptism for Adults. Adults who desire to receive Baptism are encouraged to join the (RCIA) program.
