What is Baptism? Baptism is the first of the initiation sacraments of the Church and makes us members of the Body of Christ. “From the baptismal fonts is born the one People of God of the New Covenant…for ‘by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body’ (1 Cor. 12:13)” —CCC, 1267   To schedule a Baptism, please contact the parish office at (510) 526-4811.

Godparent Requirements.  Ideally, both sponsors/godparents are fully baptized practicing Catholics. One sponsor must be a practicing Catholic, in good standing who has received Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.  The other may be a baptized non-Catholic Christian.

Meeting with a Priest.  Please call the parish office to schedule an appointment with a priest well in advance of the date on which you would like your child to be baptized.  Before arriving at the office, please download and fill out this form.

Baptism Classes. All parents who intend to baptize their child are expected to attend a preparation class prior to the Baptism.  The Baptism classes are led by parishioner Mary Bucher on Saturday mornings. Please contact the parish office (510)-526-4811 for more information on how to contact Mary directly.

Baptism for Adults. Adults who desire to receive Baptism are encouraged to join the (RCIA) program.
