In Response to Clergy Abuse Scandal

The Diocese of Oakland shares the latest information from the 2019 USCCB Annual Conference:

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has approved several documents with major implications for our Church. The USCCB has provided resources which parishes can use as bulletin inserts, handouts or in other means you deem appropriate, to help the faithful understand the new processes to ensure the accountability of our bishops.  Please note we have added a one page explanation, in English and Spanish, of our diocesan policies.

Fr. Nick shares with the Parish responses to the Priest Abuse Scandal.

Bishop Michael issued a letter on Oct 2, 2018, announcing the Diocese of Oakland’s plan to make public the names of all clergy who have been credibly accused of sexually abusing a minor. The Bishop also reviews steps taken in the past to investigate abuse, and new programs and reviews currently in place.
